are you sure answer is b?

when i see remainder problems i usually throw numbers in and look for a pattern.

a) k is divisible by 10 so k=10, 20, 30 , 40, etc

2k is simply these numbers by 2 and remainder is always 0.

b) k= 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, ....
2k= 8, 16, 24, 32, 40
remainder when 2k is divided by 10 varies so not suff

thanks :) actually i did the same choice, however the source is indicating that A is right one. Anyway, your logic is so precise that I can disagree, so i think there is problem in the answer sheet.

is this problem from the GMAT PREP SOFTWARE?
i'm thinking it isn't, since the original poster has referred to an "answer sheet" (there are no answer sheets for gmat prep, which is computerized).

we will delete this thread within one week, unless the problem is actually from the official gmat prep software. thanks.
and, yes, the answer should definitely be (a).
