a certain list consists of 5 integers. IS the averag (arithmetic mean) of the two greatest integers in the list greater than 70?

1. Median is 70
2. average of the five numbers in the list is 70.

OA: D..
however i think it should be A

please let me know how it can be D...

A) Median 70, so the 5 integers could be 68, 69, 70, 71, 72 or 70, 70, 70, 70, 70. In case 1, avg is 71.5 and in second case it is 70 - Not sufficient (question reads greater than not greater or equal to)

B) Average is 70, which also brings up the above two possibilities - Not sufficient.

Since A and B both have same possibilities, A+B is also not sufficient, so the choice should be E.

But if the question was (greater than or equal to, then the answer would be D).

PLEASE DO NOT TRANSCRIBE PROBLEMS INCORRECTLY!
PLEASE DOUBLE-CHECK PROBLEM STATEMENTS!

the actual statement of this problem says "five different integers", not just "five integers". this is a crucial difference.

here is an existing thread about this problem:

if you have any further questions after reading my explanation, please post them on that thread; this one is now locked.
