Do you have to Rewrite AWA if rewriting the GMAT??? (urgent)

by 6jw1 Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:24 pm

Hi
This is an urgent post. I am rewriting my GMAT tomorrow but wondering if I need to do the AWA section again. Last time I wrote I scored 6.0 so there is no need to re write it. If I do not write it (I would rather save my energy for Verbal and Quant) will the zero that appears negatively affect my chances? Or will the 6.0 be sufficient.
Thanks!

Yes, you absolutely should do it again.

Sorry I'm only getting to this today (when you're taking the test). FYI for future (or for anyone else reading this): the forums are NOT a good resource for urgent requests. If you have an urgent request that requires an immediate answer, call the office (800.576.GMAT) or email (studentservices@manhattangmat.com). Calling is better (for urgent requests).

Luckily, andrea replied and gave you good advice. Yes, you still need to do the essays. There are two reasons for this.

1) GMAC reserves the right to cancel any test administration for any reasons they deem "out of the ordinary" or "suspicious." One of the potential reasons on that list is skipping the essays. (This does not mean they WILL cancel your test if you skip the essays, but they might.)

2) If you skip the essays, you have an advantage on the multiple choice that other test takers do not have. Many schools will notice this and discount your multiple choice score as a result.
