do we need to know english grammer well to do sc

by y Sun Oct 28, 2007 11:47 am

to do SC do we need to know well about english grammer like clause, subclause, which has to follow which one, what has to follow that, what should not follow? when and has to come when not?

prepositions, conjuctions, phrases, sub phrases
which words follows infinitives which are not? hundreds of idioms???

.... oh.

in OG sc answers have lot of grammer explanations.

It seems only Manhatton SC is not enough, before that we have to refer lot of english grammer books.

Even I am working in USA for many years in IT, still I feel gmat SC is tough.

your suggestions are welcome please.

You do need to know grammar pretty well to do well on SC. Our strategy guide focuses on the most common stuff - about 90% of it. Yes, there are some things that aren't in our guide, but you shouldn't even think about going beyond the guide until you know it backwards and forwards. And the vast majority of people don't need to go beyond the guide - the stuff is just too rare, so it's not a good use of your time. Really, the only people who need to do that are the instructors b/c we're supposed to know everything... :)
