Digits A and B

by TLC Wed Dec 17, 2008 9:28 am

2 2
a 3
+ 4 b
9 0

If a and b represent positive single digits in the correctly worked computation above, what is the value of the two digit integer ba?

Clearly a=2 and b=5 but when the question is phrased "what is the value of ba", I thought it meant b x a which would be 5x2=10. Is it me or could they have made the problem more clear and asked for the two digit number as opposed to the value?

i think ur confusion is valid.
in some DS questions, we have "what is the value of xy?"
where xy represents x * y & not the two digit integer xy.

hence the question needs to be more clear.

Thanks!

Yes, but notice that although they asked for the "value," it said: "the value of the two digit integer ba." NOT the value of the product ba.
