Desk to put the yellow pad on?

Is there space for this or do i have to take notes on my lap?

You will have space for your yellow pad. There isn't an enormous amount of space, but you don't need the keyboard after the essays, so once you're done with the essays, slide the keyboard out of the way (alongside the monitor) and then you'll have plenty of space to sprawl out on the desk. You'll only need the mouse for the multiple choice stuff. :)
