Confusion on What Homework Problems to Do

by mcinerney.b Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:04 pm

Hi,

I am confused by the homework problems for the MGMAT class. I completed my second class on Sunday, and I am now trying to determine which problems I need to answer.

For example, my red covered MGMAT book "Numbers Properties (4th Edition)" on page 112 lists questions in both the Official Guide for GMAT Review and the Official Guide for GMAT Quantative Review.

Under the "Positives and Negatives" title, it says that the Quantative Review problems to answer are 15 and 53. When I go to the answer guide in the Quantative Review book (green cover; 2nd Edition), it lists problem 15 as Geometry; Arithmetic Area; Percents.

Another example, under the "Divisibility & Primes" assignments on page 112 of the MGMAT book "Numbers Properties", it assigns question numer 102. Again, when I go to the answer guide in the Quantative Review book, it shows problem 102 as Algebra Simple coordinate geometry.

Am I missing something here, or are we suppossed to do problems for material that we have not yet read or reviewed?

I'm guessing we have a version control issue.

Do you have the Quantitative Review or the Quantitative Review 2nd Edition?

Does the red strategy guide say simply "Quant Review" or does it specify 2nd Edition?

If the two don't match, then you're looking up the problems in the wrong version of the book. :) If that's the case, log into your student center, go to the Class Resources tab and click on Course Downloads. About halfway down that page, you'll see the heading "Official Guide Assignments Document." Download that document and do the problems listed for whichever version of the book you have.
