Confused between Because and That...

by crimsontides007 Sun Dec 06, 2009 1:10 am

Got this SC in 800score.com verbal test 5...

The reason I am hiring her is because her extensive experience in consulting has made her qualified for a seat on this important subcommittee.

A) because her extensive experience in consulting has made her qualified for

B) that her extensive experience in consulting have made her qualified for

C) that her extensive experience in consulting has made her qualified for

D) that her extensive experience in consulting has made her qualified to

E) because her extensive experience in consulting have made her qualified for

OA given is C..but i am really confused between the use of because and that in this sentence. I initially chose A.

Thanks,
CJ

You need to read the MGMAT SC chapter 10,11 to know which words usually use THAT, with reason THAT IS a good option

"Because" is a conjunction that joins two independent clauses (complete sentences). Here, "the reason I am hiring her is" is not a complete sentence. If the sentence had been written "I am hiring her because ..." then it would be correct.
