comparison question

by davetzulin Wed May 16, 2012 1:36 pm

from guide:
I walk as fast now as when I was younger.

my variation
I walk as fast as when I was younger

is the "now" required to be compared to "when I was younger"? two time periods being compared.

a similar example,

(1). i have more apples than in 1998

i have more apples now than in 1998

is the "now" required? The tense of the verbs in the first one would imply present tense, but explicitly there is no word to compare "in 1998" to

thanks!

not required, but you will not need to make a choice between having the "now" and not having it on the GMAT, so it's probably something you needn't worry about..
