Cheaters never win...

I just found out that scoretop.com got completely crushed by GMAC in a lawsuit. You can read all about it on the scoretop website. GMAC got control of their website and HARD DRIVES.

I'm sure GMAC now knows everyone who purchased the live questions and is aiming to destroy all cheaters. So my grandma was right, cheaters never win and winners never cheat. There is no shortcut around a great score.

Wow - that's crazy! I knew GMAC was suing scoretop (the president mentioned it last fall at a conference) - that's why we banned them as a source here last fall. They mentioned that they might go after the students but I didn't think it would really happen. Wow - yeah, cheating is not a good idea. Ever.

Oh, and one other thing - if you EVER visit a gmat prep web site that mentions anything about "live" questions (other than that they're banned) - RUN AWAY and never even visit that site again.

("live" questions mean questions that are currently being used on the actual test - people try to memorize them and write them down when they come out. Totally illegal.)

I purchased scoretop services once to see the quality of their materials. Frankly, I did not like it. Lots of jumbled questions and no explanations etc.

My fear now is: Will I be in trouble now? The site never said that it hosts live questions so I never knew anything abt it. I am sleepless now and my test is in 2 weeks.

I'm not a lawyer so I don't know exactly what can / will happen, but I would guess that they can't take legal action against someone unless they can explicitly prove that the person knowingly viewed "live" questions. Scoretop had a lot of legal stuff on their site too. As long as you didn't knowingly view any live questions, I think you're safe.

I also think they want to scare everybody into NOT supporting any other sites that illegally post / host live questions, which is why they're saying they're going to go after all those people. But, again, unless you knowingly looked at live questions, you didn't break any laws.

Not the best of times for this to happen for you - but you should be fine. Even if the worst happened (and I don't think it would), you could take a lie detector test to prove that you didn't know anything while you were using the site.
