CGPA SCALE 10 to SCALE 4

Hi

Can you please tell me what is the rule for CGPA conversion from scale 10 to scale 4.0?

(e.g. I have a CGPA of 7.5/10, what is the equivalent on scale 4.0?)

Is it a simple unitary method, or some other method?
Please advice, as this information is required on the day of GMAT, and my university has a scoring on scale of 10.

hi.

i don't recall any test-day situations in which you'll have to report a GPA.
if you would report this information at any time, chances are that you'd report it during the test registration process (i.e., while you're first signing up for the test).

on test day, you'll have to give the names of the b-schools to which you want to report your scores, but that's about it.

in any case:
the american 4.0 system works as follows:
[a+ = 4.3 or 4 1/3]
a = 4.0
a- = 3.7 or 3 2/3
b+ = 3.3 or 3 1/3
b = 3.0
b- = 2.7 or 2 2/3
c+ = 2.3 or 2 1/3
c = 2.0
c- = 1.7 or 1 2/3
d+ = 1.3 or 1 1/3
d = 1.0
d- = 0.7 or 2/3
f = 0

if you have equivalents of these grades, then, there you go.
if not, i have no idea how you'd make the conversion, although you probably can't go wrong by googling a search term such as "cgpa conversion table" or "convert cgpa".

Actually google is where my confusion actually starts, there are so many contradicting ways cited on google for CGPA conversion.
A problem with my marksheet is that I have no grades but a CGPA of 7.5/10.
I'm not sure if we apply the simple unitary method to it.
(If we do, ny GPA comes to 3.0/4.0, but I was the second topper of college, so it doesn't make sense!)
It'll be helpful if someone can answer.
FYI I gave the GMAT on 25 June, and was asked my GPA on BIQ (Background Information Questions).
And by the way, I scored 750 (50,41) (AWA awaited)
I'm also in the process of zeroing in on colleges. Any help is highly appreciated!

You can contact the individual schools to ask them how they will convert your grading system; different schools will likely have different policies. You may also want to get information from your university as to your class rank and statistics for the grading system - especially if your school used a tougher grading system (which it sounds like it did, if 7.5/10 placed you high in your class! I'm not sure what "second topper" means, but you say it in a way that indicates it's good :). You definitely want to make sure that the US schools understand how to interpret the numbers so that it looks good for you!
