Hello,

Does skipping the essays in the CAT affect the test at all?

On a practice test? It doesn't affect the test itself, no. But it does affect your results. Your results will be inflated because you didn't have to expend the mental energy to do the essays for an hour.

When taking tests, take them under official timed conditions. I know you don't care about the essay score, but you do care about your multiple-choice score, and your practice test scores won't be completely valid if you don't take the test the way you'll have to take the real test. :)

That's what I figured, I knew it would impact the score in some way! I've been doing the essays however, the last CAT I took, I just skipped them and went right to the math/verbal.

Thanks Stacey :)
