CAT#2 Quant #14

by WendyH75 Mon Apr 23, 2018 5:52 pm

Question #14 Quant section of CAT #2:

If k and x re positive integers and x is divisible by 6, which of the following CANNOT be the value of sq root of (288kx)?

The explanation is a bit confusing. The explanation has a table (y, solution). Why is there a y? and also, y values (1,2,3,k) are not divisible by 6.

Thank you,

Wendy

Please look at this thread: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/foru ... 88kx#p9555

In the explanation, we state that x can be expressed as 6y, where y is an unknown integer. This is because x is a multiple of 6. Think of the 6 times table (6, 12, 18, ...). This can be expressed as 1x6, 2x6, 3x6, ... This helps with breaking down the square root.
