Can this be done?

by chike_eze Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:37 am

Last summer I started prepping for the GMAT. I completed both Barrons and Princeton review prep books and took a few sample tests. But since the summer, I havn't spent too much time prepping.

I'm looking to take the GMAT test in March, so I plan to take the mgmat liveonline course that runs from 1/16 till 3/13. During this time, however, I will also be enrolled full time at the UW business school completing my undergrad biz admin degree (last quarter)

Question: Do you think I can pull this off? i.e., full time school, some work, prep course and then sit for the exam in March?

It depends upon how organized, motivated, and efficient you are. :)

Our course meets for 3h a week and recommends 10 to 15h of homework a week just to keep pace (and there's more to do on top of that if you want / need to).

Yes, I think some people can pull that off, but I would say that most people would probably find it difficult. You also need to think about getting good grades, since that's part of what the b-schools evaluate as well - it would not be good if you compromised both your last semester grades and your GMAT score through trying to do too much at once.

If you've got to do everything on this timeframe due to deadlines or something, then you've got to do it. If you have an opportunity to spread things out more to give you a chance to excel at everything, then I'd probably do so myself.
