Best Verbal Strategy

by digoazambuja Sat Feb 11, 2012 7:35 pm

Hi,

Ive been studying for over 3 weeks and I have already seen improvements.

I got some very useful tricks in the quant part but I could not do the same for verbal. I cant really get the tracks and find usefull techniques!! Therefore, I was wondering If you could help me by posting some time-consuming and effective verbal tips to improve my score.

In regards to RC, I would also like to know what would be the most effective way to nail this part. I know Kaplan suggests us to read the entire passage carefully, take notes and then answer the questions. But isnt it so time-consuming??

Another technique I heard was from GmatClub:

Step 1: Read the first paragraph and rewrite the key points. Rewrite in your own words.
Step 2: Read the first sentence of each subsequent paragraph. Rewrite in your own words.
Step 2a: SKIM the paragraph looking for key words - names, dates, key words. Write these down underneath the key sentence you wrote for each paragraph.
Step 3: Answer the questions.

According to your knowledge, what should I do??

Thanks a lot

Rodrigo

Hi! Here are some RC resources (including how to read the passage):

Here are some higher-level CR and SC articles. If you are having particular difficulties with specific CR question types or grammar rules, let me know what those are (I have many, many articles - I can't post them all here!) :)
