BD/ACE GRID

by Capthan Wed Jul 30, 2008 6:22 am

There are many question in this forum which are solved (tested) with BD/ACE GRID. Could someone please write about this grid.

1) What is BD/ACE Grid.
2) How and when we use it (example if any)

I have all the maths books from MahhattenGMAT but could not find info. specifically about BD/ACE GRID, though It is mentioned on many questions.

Thanks.

BD/ACE is used when statement B is easier to evaluate.

One should only attempt to determine the easier statement between A & B when the question stem does not have too much information.

AD/BCE grid is used when statement A is evaluated first and is used to eliminate 2 (A,D) or 3 (B,C,E) answer choices.

In certain cases it is easier to evaluate statement B first and eliminate 2 (B,D) or 3 (A, C, E) answer choices.

Hope that helps.

Is this method covered in any of the MGMAT Guides? (books)

I don't believe it is covered in the books, as we teach it in Session 1 of our 9-week course. Anyone can attend Session 1 free as a trial student, so look into that. One assignment on the course syllabus is completion of a lab on the use of the grid.
