Which is the best usage in the sentence given below?

Qs: Computer engineers commonly suffer from eye strain and fatigue caused from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

A) caused from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.
B) a result of sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

C) resulting from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time.

My understanding -
A) incorrect - caused by is the correct idiom

Not able to decide between B and C although I feel - the correct use for as a result of follows the following pattern

Action phrase As a result of Noun phrase

for example -
I chose GMAT ( action clause) as a result of my friend's prodding ( noun clause).

In the above sentence both the following constructions appear correct.

Computer engineers commonly suffer from eye strain and fatigue as a result of sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time. ( AS a result of modifies "suffer")

Computer engineers commonly suffer from eye strain and fatigue resulting from sitting too close to a monitor for lengthy periods of time. ( resulting from modifies fatigue)

According to me the option B is good one.

Adding +ing to result in option C and turning it to the action that sounds like happening right now is not correct according to me.

Hi,

Just searched on google for this. One of the differences is that "as a result of" is preceded by phrase/clause and "resulting from" is preceded by noun or noun phrase. This is from a user only so not cannot guarantee that it is absolutely right.

Please check this post as well:
