Are Reading Comprehension questions weighted heavier?

by JinJJa Sun Oct 18, 2009 1:06 pm

I have noticed a strong discrepancy on my GMAT Prep verbal scores. Notably, when I had 2 SC questions wrong and 4 RC questions wrong, I had a score of 40. But when I had 3 SC, 2 CR questions wrong, and perfect RC, I had a score of 44.

I am beginning to believe that RC questions are weighted more heavily than other types of questions. Has anyone else seen the same pattern?

Thanks

what's more likely is that RC questions are less adaptive (since there are only a limited number of questions per passage, as compared to the huge pool of essentially random SC and CR problems).

if that's true, then getting RC problems correct will have less of an influence on your score (provided that you're in the top half, as you clearly are), while missing them will possibly have a greater impact on your score.
