"...and..." & "...,and..."- usage

by NarenS469 Thu Mar 12, 2015 6:25 pm

Hello Instructors,

In a clause do we need a subject+verb after "...,and" or "...and"

example: .......and now included in every journal

Does the underlined part need it's own subject and verb, with our without comma?

Thanks,

Naren

the first half of the sentence (the part that you omitted) is essential to the question.

"and" can connect any parallel structures, so, if the missing part of the sentence contains something that's actually parallel to "included in xxxx", then the sentence is fine.

... and punctuation is not tested on this exam.

don't worry about whether a comma should be placed in front of "and". that's almost entirely a stylistic issue, and thus beyond the scope of this exam.
