Context is essential. In some arguments, "alternative plans" are relevant; in others, they aren't.
E.g.,
We'll have to break the window to get into the house.
"”> If there are other ways to get into the house, that's clearly a relevant issue here.
If we break the window, we'll be able to get into the house.
"”> Here, we're only concerned with what will be possible if we break the window. So, other ways of entering the house are irrelevant.
Absent the context of a specific argument, it's impossible to say things like this.
