The correct answer is 495. The answer that U apparently markedis 24 times the correct answer. Please note that the question states that the order of selection does not count.

I agree with Shaji and his reasoning to keep in mind that order doesn't matter. Since the order in which the 4 sites will be picked doesn't matter, we need to divide the result by 4!.
In a nutshell - no. of ways 4 sites can be picked - (12!)/(4!)(8!)

495 is what I got. It is the # of ways 4 sites can be picked out of 12 = 12!/(4! x 8!) = 495
