If M maxes out at 100K, that does not mean something that is greater than 2M must be greater than 200K, so approach 1 is not totally correct..
Approach 2 is something we don’t even want to consider. Because the answer ends up being C, trying to get a yes and a no will be of no use to us here and hence a waste of time..
