640 Score-What Schools to Apply To?

by sophia.lin12345 Fri Oct 11, 2013 2:37 pm

Got 640 GMAT score. Based on this score alone, would I still be a viable candidate for the following schools' masters in accounting programs:

USC
UWa (Foster Business School)
UWa (Milgard Business School)
Rutgers
UMD
UVa?

Also, please let me know what other schools I could apply to and where I can find resources to determine what school I could apply to with a 640.

I would love to help but I have no idea. :) This folder is for questions about the GMAT - we're not experts on admissions.

There's another folder here about admissions; I'd suggest posting there. You can also contact admissions consulting firms directly to see what they have to say. (My favorite is mbaMission.)

A couple of pieces of advice:
(1) Go look at these schools' websites. What do they say about the average incoming GMAT scores of their accepted students? How do you compare?
(2) My guess is that an admissions consultant would tell you they can't answer whether you would be "viable" based just on one data point because, of course, there may be something else that would knock you out of the running. Alternatively, you may have something amazing on your resume that would make a competitive school willing to accept a lower GMAT score than their average. There are a lot of variables involved here...

Good luck!
