4th edition + OG13 / 5th edition + OG12? Read me!

by StaceyKoprince Thu May 24, 2012 1:13 pm

If you have a mis-match in your problem set assignments (which means you have either 4th edition MGMAT strategy guides with OG13 or you have 5th edition MGMAT strategy guides with OG12), please contact our Student Services team.

Note: have your books handy, as they will need to confirm your purchase.

Good day

I am about to start preparing to write the GMAT. I bought the Fourth Edition of the complete prep set from Manhattan GMAT last year (2011). Unfortunately, I did not get round to taking the GMAT last year due to various constraints. I intend on taking the exam in October of this year but I'm now faced with a bit of a quandary. I live in South Africa, so I invested close to US$ 500 in buying and shipping the Fourth Edition prep sets. I now see that there is a Fifth Edition of the prep set. Is it necessary for me to invest another US$ 500 in the prep set, in which case I may have to reconsider, or are the Fourth Edition and Fifth Edition prep sets very similar. Are there material changes or can I still prepare using Fourth Edition prep sets?

Good question - I'm going to answer here because others might have a similar question and this post in general is about the book editions. In future, though, please go ahead and start a new regular post for any queries. (I often don't notice posts in the "announcement" threads!)

The 4th edition books are fine - you don't need 5th edition. The one thing you won't get, though, is the Integrated Reasoning book, which didn't exist in the 4th edition. So you may want to go ahead and buy that book by itself.

We do sell the books electronically, by the way - if that format works for you, then you don't have to pay shipping costs.

Finally, I'm going to edit your post to remove your email address - you don't want spammers to get ahold of it and start sending you a bunch of spam! :)

Great. Thank you for responding. I can now embark on my journey to a successful business school application with peace of mind that i'm studying with the right materials. I will purchase the electronic version of the Integrated Reasoning.
