3 times failed in gmat

by rins Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:35 am

Hi stacey,

I have given gmat 3 times. And my scores were 460,550,530.1st time i was wrong in my approach. Then slowly i changed my approach with the help of your gmat forum and articles. At last i was consistently scored 680-700 in my practice tests(gprep) with 49 in quant and 34 in verbal, but with some repeat questions (nearly 4 in verbal and quant). But i have taken full time to solve them again. My accuracy in og is nearly 80% I have read the explanation of all the questions and make the notes of my error.I have also increased my stamina. Also in first 2 attempts my approach was not good and after devoting time about 4 to 5 months, i beleive that i improved a lot for the 3rd attempt. But at last i finished with low score(42 quant and 20 verabal).I have read manhattan sc guide,og 10 and 12.Done 7 manhattan tests with explaination of both right and wrong.

In test day actually i find a hard time with my timings, have to rush for some last questions (approx 6 questions in quant and 8 in verbal).I was not exuast in test day and was able to concentrate good in verabal section. What are my chances to succeed in 4th time. Also 4th time is possible or not in my case.

Please help me.Thanks for your support.

You report MUCH higher scores on your practice tests, so we need to figure out why you score so much better on practice tests compared to the real thing.

Read this article and do the analysis described, then come back here and share the analysis with us:

Also, I'm not quite sure from what you wrote, but are the scores you reported from "clean" practice tests - that is, did you have new questions, or did you have questions that you'd already seen before? (If you had already seen some of the questions, that could artificially inflate your score from a little to a lot, depending upon the circumstances.)
