18 days to my exam

by GauravS745 Thu Jun 26, 2014 3:57 pm

Hi All,

I am exactly 18 days away from my exam and i have preparing very sincerely for the last three months.
However, during the final lap of my gmat journey , i am finding it a little difficult to choose topics to go practice.
So, as of now everyday i just pick up around 20 -25 questions from each topic ( approx. 100 questions daily) to practice and analyse.
Following have been my scores lately
I have taken Mgmat and score a 730 on the last one.
GMat Prep 1 (3 months ago ) : 620
Economist Free test (2 months ago) : 720
Gmat Prep 2 (1 month ago) : 680
Gmat PowerPrep (2 weeks ago) : 750
Gmat Prep 1 (Repeat) (Last week) : 770

As i want to break the 750 barrier on the real Gmat as well, Kindly suggest me a study plan for these final 18 days so that I can make the most of these crucial final days.
How many more mocks do u suggest in this period.

As I noted yesterday, please don't "bump" your own post. :) We respond to all posts in order, oldest first, and the date of your post is based on the date of the last post in the thread, not the first. If you bump your own post, you will wait longer for a response. If you see that older posts in the same folder have not yet been answered, then you know that we haven't missed you - we just haven't gotten to your question yet.

The repeated test was probably inflated and the old PowerPrep software does not work the same way the test works, so I would discount that result. It looks like your score is solidly in the 700 range but it may not be in the 750 range.

So what is your minimum goal vs. your "I'd love to have this score" goal? No school on the planet requires a 750, so that could be a personal goal, but you don't need that kind of score for b-school. :)

I don't suggest focusing on taking tests - the tests tell you what your current scoring level is and what your current strengths and weaknesses are, but just taking a test doesn't actually help you get better at taking the test.

You'll need to analyze your most recent test results to figure out what question types and topic areas to prioritize.

You can use this to analyze your most recent MGMAT CAT:

Also, read these two articles to make sure that your mindset and study focus are what they should be:
https://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/inde ... lly-tests/
http://www.manhattangmat.com/blog/index ... -the-gmat/

Use all of that to figure out your strengths and weaknesses as well as what you think you should do based on that analysis. Then come back here and tell us; we'll tell you whether we agree and advise you further. (Note: do share an analysis with us, not just the raw data. Part of getting better is developing your ability to analyze your results - figure out what they mean and what you think you should do about them!)

You'll stay in the "trying to get better" mode until about 10-14 days before your test date. Then you'll switch to review mode. These two articles will help with that stage:
