1 week off from work to study for gmat

Hi,

I am taking a week off from work to concentrate on my preparation.
I have done SC CR and RC but have difficulties in SC and RC on the tests as I am not able to apply the techniques
and more often go with gut feeling , end up getting questions wrong.

For quant I am struggling with the DS questions, need some help there.

Also my last test I got 620 want to get it past 650 or 670 by the end of next week.
I am not able to do proper analysis of my prep tests.Please if anyone could suggest what the proper way of doing analysis after the test.

Coming week my prime aim is towrds my weaknesses SC DS RC
revise certain topics in CR and PS which I get wrong.
Go through the logs and see what mistakes I am making try to find a pattern there

Please suggest if i am missing out any thin.Sorry for the long post!!

Hi, sorry I'm just getting to this now. As you've probably noticed, we're not on the forums every day - time-sensitive questions aren't the best to ask here. :)

(Note: do share an analysis with us, not just the raw data. Part of getting better is developing your ability to analyze your results - figure out what they mean and what you think you should do about them!)

Hi Stacey

So i took a week off , and prepared really hard, i went over my weaknesses and timed my self on the questions.Here is what i did in the previous week.
SC- redid from guides and went through manhattan SC.
CR-Worked on Find the assumption problems and did a quick review of the other types from the guide.
RC-Solved around 10 tough passages under time constraint.
DS-Did somewhere around 80-100 problems,my weakness!

My hit rate was good and i was confident i ll see a increase in my score in todays test.
Last Sunday i was at 630. Today i got 600.V32/Q37
In the three passages i got 6/11 correct, which is very bad.
Quant i got 15 questions wrong:most from geometry and probability,which i have not gone through yet.
DS:Even after so much practise , i got majority wrong.
Very disappointed.

I am through with the guides on verbal, so i dont know exactly how to proceed next?.Have completed 12th edition O.G once .
For Quant i can see many topics where i lack and can improve but verbal i cant make out what to do next.
There is some issue in the way i approach the problems on the mock, and i am not able to figure it out myself.
Please need some guidance from your side.

Yeah, verbal can be a real struggle.

First, just because you've finished a book, doesn't mean you're actually done with it. :) You're going to be going through that material again - some of it maybe even a third time.

Take a look at this article:

This is how you can analyze all of those verbal questions that you just did on your practice CAT. And you can analyze your OG questions the same way.

This analysis will help you to figure out where you're going wrong, and once you figure that out, you'll have ideas about what to do to fix those things. (And, when you don't know what to do, you'll be able to tell us, I keep making XYZ mistake, or I really struggle with inference questions on both RC and CR, or whatever. When we get to that level of detailed understanding, then we can advise you what to do. (That's also why I suggested last time that you analyze your practice CAT and tell us the results of your analysis.)

If you get completely stuck or feel really frustrated, there are other things you can do that involve spending money, such as taking a class or working with a tutor. I don't know whether you're at that point, though - maybe we can still work things out here.
